Welcome to Garrigill and the Village Hall

Whether visitor or villager, there's much to discover on our website - find your nearest blacksmith, view current road conditions on Hartside, discover local B&B's and holiday cottages, check on Garrigill's weatheradvertise your grand piano for sale, see what's on at the Hall and local cinemas, book our bunkroom, join the exclusive 100 Club, check out or make village news, find local businesses and (coming soon!) discover local sights and leisure activities. Enjoy!

After many years of fundraising, 2012 saw Garrigill Village Hall closed for major refurbishment. We now have a fully modernised building, warm, light and welcoming. The Hall enhances village life with a pleasant environment for meeting, interacting and strengthening community ties. From hosting live bands, parties and theatre to film club and supper evenings, the Hall plays host to a multitude of events and is available for private hire, overnight stays and daytime use. We also offer bunkroom and camping facilities as well as electric bike hire.

Can you help on Saturday 7th March?

02/27/2015 16:25

The AONB Partnership's Peatland Team needs volunteers to help measure and record the depth of the peat on the fell south of Garrigill near the Yad Moss Ski Tow.  This will involve using drainage rods and GPS units. Volunteers will be contributing towards a national project which aims to estimate how much carbon is stored in England’s peatlands. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Claire Hutchinson at  claire@northpenninesaonb.org. or phone 01388 528801.

Fancy an allotment?

One of the allotments at the recreation ground is up for grabs. If you're interested, email Paula Arkley, the allotments secretary, at paularkl@mypostoffice.co.uk.

Learn how to use the village defibrillator - it could save YOUR life

02/08/2015 14:47

At 7pm on Thursday 26th March, "Heart Start" CPR trainer Phillipa Groves and colleague will be at the village hall, instructing us on using the defibrillator and life-saving resuscitation techniques. If you are an Alston Moor resident and wish to attend, please phone Elaine Grew on 382360 or leave a message on her answerphone and she will get back to you. Please be there - this is too important an event to leave to another day.
